Respirator Awareness Train-the-Trainer
This Train-the-Trainer course equips participants with the knowledge and skills needed to train others in respiratory protection and fit testing within their organization. Proper respirator use is essential for minimizing exposure to chemical, biological, and airborne hazards when other controls are not feasible, in emergency situations, or as a supplement to engineering and administrative controls.
Employers are responsible for implementing a written respiratory protection program, and trainers play a key role in ensuring workers are properly trained, fit-tested, and compliant with safety regulations.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand roles and responsibilities within a respiratory protection program
- Conduct hazard assessments to determine respiratory protection needs
- Select and recommend the appropriate respirator for specific workplace hazards
- Explain different types of respirators and their applications
- Perform and instruct others in qualitative and quantitative fit testing
- Demonstrate proper respirator use, donning, doffing, and seal checks
- Teach and reinforce respirator care, maintenance, and storage best practices
- Deliver effective training sessions on respiratory protection and fit testing
This program is designed for individuals responsible for training and overseeing respiratory protection programs, including:
- Health & Safety Managers
- Supervisors and Team Leads
- Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) members
- Designated workplace trainers for respiratory protection
- Occupational Health & Safety professionals
Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Trainer Certification, allowing them to conduct in-house training and fit testing within their organization. This course aligns with CSA Standards (Z94.4-11) and Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations.
